Bigger than...?

Over the summer I watched the movie, Ben Hur.
It got me thinking. What was the equivalent phrase to 'Bigger than Ben Hur' prior to 1959?
Any ideas?

Hi Campbell,
Perhaps “Gone With The Wind”, a 1939 film adapted from Margaret Mitchell’s 1936 novel about the American Civil War. Not only does the movie depict the atrocities of the conflict that besieged the United States from 1861 to 1865, but is an in depth study of people under duress.

It’s nice to have you posting again!
